Deathfire had a childhood accident where he injured his eye. His was accidentally ran over by a rushing pony and fell down on a rock which scratched and left him with a scar.

Red Eyes
Deathfire's eyes has the ability to turn red due to a spell he learned, the red eyes helps withstand the heat conjured by his magic. Fireproof eyes as they are called.

fire ball = fascination with fire
red eyes = favorite color is red and/or eyes of death, hence death+fire
